Call for papers and invitation to the INCLUSO-2010 conference

NOTE: The Organising committee of the INCLUSO-2010 conference has extended the deadline for sending in contributions to this conference. The new date is March 22, 2010 and all instructions for uploading are available at the website www.incluso.org/conference

Dear Madam, Sir,

Computers and Internet are omnipresent in our society. Social software sites like Facebook, Netlog, Twitter ... are well known and are frequently used for the development of social contacts.
Educators and governments have rightly questioned the impact of these online social networks. The potential adverse effects are frequently reported in studies and seminars, especially when young people from difficult backgrounds are involved.

However, the use of this social software also offers opportunities. Social software can diversify the network of young people, help them acquire autonomy, contribute to increasing a positive self-image, create job opportunities, etc.
Nine European partners, technical experts and educational experts, studied in the framework of the European INCLUSO project (www.incluso.org), within various practical environments of disadvantaged youngsters, how to work with these social online networks.

On behalf of the INCLUSO partnership, the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) as coordinator of the Incluso project, along with the Katholieke Hogeschool Kempen (Geel) and University College Mechelen, organises on 13 and 14 September, 2010 a two-day conference in Leuven on the subject of e-Inclusion of Youth at Risk:

e-Inclusion of Youth at Risk
INCLUSO-2010 conference

At this conference we want to bring our own experiences and compare them with the conclusions from other scientific and educational institutions. Public and community services, schools, training centres can all contribute also with their practical experience.

In attachment, you will find the call for contributions to this conference, along with background information about the Incluso project, the conference and its practical organization.
Record in any case already its dates: Sept 13 &14, 2010.

It promises to be a fascinating confrontation between European field workers in this domain.
We will also present the White Paper on the use of Social Software with young people from difficult backgrounds, a book full of practical tips based on a year of fieldwork in Brussels, Scotland, Poland and Austria.
